Tim Cotterill was born in Leicester, England, in 1950, and left school at fifteen to complete a six-year engineering apprenticeship. This metal-directed education provided a sound base for Tim’s subsequent career in the arts. Intrigued with metalworking, Tim moved into the sculpture of radical wheeled vehicles, later finding his peak interest in the design of animals and birds during the 70’s and 80’s. Over 1000 original steel, bronze, and gold bird sculptures have been sold worldwide; many through Sotheby’s auction house in London. Tim’s curiosity of the diverse life-styles in California led to many trips to the USA. Emigrating to California in 1990, he exhibited and sold his art all across America. These new high-energy surroundings brought out the fun in his art. Tim is now fully focused on Frogs. His bronze sculptures capture the whimsical character, the jewel like quality, and the pure JOY of these beautiful little creatures.
We are pleased to announce that the gallery now represents the one and only Frogman. Artist Tim Cotterill sculpts frogs out of bronze and enamels over the top to create wonderful little creatures that seem to make everyone smile. Tim creates his frogs in limited production pieces; each piece is signed by the artist, and lists the edition number and edition size. Depending on the frog, the edition size can be as limited a one hundred pieces. The frogs are available in a wide range of sizes and shapes, anywhere from a few inches to a few feet tall. The frogs are named to reflect their distinctive poses...Showoff, Over the Edge, Stealth and Stretch just to name a few.
